چکیده

This paper presents a sample of what evolved neural net circuit modules using the so called CoDi-1Bit neu-ral network model can do. The concern is to study the important issue of evolvability of the cellular automata (CA) based neural network circuits which grow and evolve in special FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) hardware. The specialized hardware which performs this evolution is labeled the CAM-Brain Machine (CBM). The CBM should make practical the assemblage of 10,000s of evolved neural net modules into humanly deened artiicial brains. A software sim-ulator of the CBM has been used to see just how evolv-able and functional individual evolved modules can be. This paper reports on some of the results of these simulations .

ATR's Artificial Brain (CAM-Brain) Project: A Sample of What Individual CoDi-1Bit Model Evolved Neural Net Modules Can Do

This paper presents a sample of what evolved neural net circuit modules using the socalled ”CoDi-1Bit” neural net model can do. This work is part of an 8 year research project at ATR which aims to build an artificial brain containing a billion neurons by the year 2001, that will be used to control the behaviors of a kitten robot ”Robokoneko”. It looks as though the figure is more likely to be 4...

The CAM - Brain Machine ( CBM ) An FPGA Based Tool which Evolves Neural Net Circuit Modules in Seconds for Building a 75 Million Neuron Arti cial Brain

This article introduces the \CAM-Brain Machine" (CBM), an FPGA based piece of hardware which implements a genetic algorithm (GA) to evolve a cellular automata (CA) based neural network circuit module, of approximately 1,000 neurons, in about a second, i.e. a complete run of a GA, with 10,000s of circuit growths and performance evaluations. Up to 65,000 of these modules, each of which is evolved...

ATR ' s Arti cial Brain Project : CAM - Brain Machine ( CBM

| This paper presents some ongoing issues concerning ATR's Artiicial Brain (CAM-Brain) Project. The CAM-Brain Project evolves 3D cellular automata (CA) based neural networks directly in FPGA electronics at electronic speeds in special hardware called a CAM-Brain Machine (CBM). The CBM updates the CA cells at a rate of 150 Billion a second, and can perform a full run of a genetic algorithm (GA) ...

Evolving CAM-Brain to control a mobile robot

CAM-Brain is the model to create neural networks based on cellular automata, and ®nally aims at developing an arti®cial brain. In particular, this model can rapidly evolve the neural networks composed of several thousand modules with special purpose computers such as CAM-8 at MIT and CBM at ATR. This paper attempts to evolve a module of CAM-Brain for the problem to control a mobile robot, espec...
